Hi Richard,
It is now such an everyday experience I have ceased to worry. I still have in use many tools that came from a family market garden which closed in 1860 after the untimely death of my Great Grandfather.
I have Forks and Spades and a series of Grafting Spades that were used primarily for laying land drains they are curved and wedge shape.

Hi Pillbug,
To my knowledge the use of Acid has been banned and they now spray off with a weak solution of weedkiller or as my contractor physically remove the haulm. We are not a million miles away from each other.
I do hope that we are going to see you at The Malvern Show???

it's entirely academic now as they have blight, so have cut off the tops to save the crop.
