Beautiful, beautiful plants, flowers as pretty as sweet peas, sadly the pods are nowhere near as sweet and tasty as the plain old green ones. Luckily, I've got both sorts growing - I think the purple ones are shiraz and the green ones are oregon sugar pod. The purple ones also have a slightly mealy texture that is absent from the green ones. I'll still grow the purple ones as they are so pretty, but won't be without the green ones for flavour.

It's a shame about the taste.
Mangetout are something we have yet to try growing.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
