Looking good. We picked those I photographed last week for my wife's party today, good news just over 2lbs, bad news 16 guests for lunch in the garden to share them with, lovely day though.

I got my first one today - well half of a one, thankfully it was big enough to cut off the slug nibble on one side. I'm afraid I put the pellets down - they can have my swede & celeriac plants but the line is drawn when they move onto the strawberry bed! :(

I've just picked 3 kilos of the Marshmello strawberries and it started raining on me. With thunderstorms forecast for tonight I thought I'd better pick the really ripe ones so they don't get ruined. It only rained for about 5 minutes and is sunny and 27° again now.

Regarding strawberries, how are everyone's free red and white alpine ones doing?

I've got 13 plants from mine and they are flowering nicely. Of the fruit that has set you can't tell whether they will turn out red or white yet.

I've planted my Alpines in the cracks in the crazy paving around the green house, some in flower.

They look at home in the paving Tiger. Mine are still in pots. I've been waiting for them all to fruit so I know which are the white ones. So far three are definitely white and have a very nice flavour. Another three are red, four look an in between pink tinge and the others haven't set fruit yet so I'm still waiting.
