Advice please.
I bought some Sharron fruits for the first time today. A deep orange colour and they feel rock hard. How will I know when they are ripe to eat?
Will they soften and do they need peeling?

Many thanks
Beryl.

Thank you very much JB. Very interesting. So many delicious recipes (which I have printed out) I can't wait for them to soften a bit to try. I have only ever tasted them in yoghurts. So many health brenfits to.

Thanks again
Beryl.

I like Sharon fruits and they're best eaten when ripe which is when the skin is beginning to soften just a little bit. They're not acidic like a tomato but become sweeter as they ripen. Personally I think they're probably best just eaten on their own or sliced up in a mixed fruit salad.
Have never heard of them being grown in this country though. Presume the climate isn't suitable.

Thank you Primrose, I have them in a bowl with some bananas. They are still rock hard so I'm hoping the bananas will do the trick. I buy a gorgeous yoghurt in Waitrose with them in so I am sure I will like them.
