Very new vegetable gardener here so please bear with me! I am currently extending my vegetable garden in readiness for planting. The area is riddled with nettle and ground elder roots which I am attempting to remove before I plant potatoes in this section. How critical is it to get rid of all this growth before planting which I am hoping to do this weekend. I'm thinking of applying weedkiller around the perimeter to help prevent roots spreading into the area - will this help? (am trying to avoid using too many chemicals on my actual garden) Thanks!
