I have several hundred onion sets to plant out along with a load of heat treated sets on order.

I understand that if I plant out the heat treated sets too early they will br more likely to bolt if they endure a cold snap. Is it the same with ordinary onion sets?

They will be planted in raised beds so cold, water logged soil isnt an issue. can they go out now or am I best to wait until March? I have fleece tunnels if required.

I've put mine out already. I do it this early every year and haven't had significant problems, certainly not all of them bolting anyway.
I think a lot of 'advice' is old wives' tales and I usually try to go against the tradition to see what happens. Sometimes the advice is correct, sometimes it isn't.
Mine are in raised beds too.
