We have received a delivery of brassicas and have planned the area to plant them. The area was previously used by the former plot holder for sweetcorn. We have dug over and manured the area. What else do we need to keep in mind before and during planting please?

i know brassicas like firm soil so ideally you're meant to leave the soil for a while after digging to let it settle. And when you plant firm them down well. A guide is that if you try to tug them out again by a leaf, the leaf would come off before the plant would uproot. Or something. Some people sprinkle lime into the planting hole as well to increase the alkalinity and reduce the likelihood of club root disease.
