raspberries, few new canes

I had a reasonable crop from my summer fruiting raspberries this season but there are very few new canes for next year’s fruit. It’s probably down to the almost total lack of rain in this part of Essex for the past few months. What can I expect next season, will I get a small amount of fruit and hopefully more canes for the year after or have I lost the plants? Regards to all, Allan (Doddy)
