hello i was wondering if anybody could help, we have moved recently and left behind an established orchard and are starting a new one, we had to plant the bare rooted trees that we had bought before the move was planned and now we have to complete the orchard. we have planted 20 apples and 7 pears so far and want to add plums and gages but are concerned that they would be too exposed in the area we need to put them. should we plant a wind break and if so what? we were thinking of either hawthorn or damsons or willow. they will have to be near the edge of the orchard due to size but they are too nice to risk getting no fruit. any thoughts or suggestions greatly appreciated thanks maree
