I have successfully rooted this rosette Aeconium ‘Nigrum’ from the plant I bought last year. But can anyone tell me how do I get it to branch out like the mother plant.?

Many thanks
Beryl.

ooh, I'd be interested too! I've just taken the top off a really leggy one and popped it into some compost with a wee bit of rooting hormone! if it takes, which I seriously doubt, then I'd like to bushify it later on!

I break the top off and it branches. Then you get another new plant if you root the bit you've broken off. Use a gritty free draining compost.

Not really sure what you mean Plumpudding.

Can you help with another problem

I'm not receiving email notifications to any of my postings - does anyone know why?

Beryl.

Can't help with the e mail problem Beryl, but should have said that the stem part that is left after taking the top off will usually send side shoots out making a branched top. The piece you break off with about two inches of stem generally roots very easily if planted in gritty compost. You can then do the same with this when it has grown a bit if you want it to branch.

Thanks PP now I understand. Not sure I want to take so much off the main plant just yet.

Westie I have always had an email notification of replies to any topic I have posted or commented on. Now I am having to check every time. I've checked my setting they seem to be ok. It's a mystery.
