I have planted out some self blanching Celery in a row and I have now read that I should have planted them in a block to promote blanching.

Should I just leave them as they are, or should I try give them some shade?

I think the type was "galaxy"

Regret I don't know anything about Celery, thought someone would have replied, don't like seeing a question with no response.
Can you pretend it is ordinary Celery and give them collars of some sort, a wrap of corrugated cardboard maybe?

Self blanching shouldn't need any more attention apart from keeping it fed and watered and probably looking out for slugs.

I've found that there is a lot more slug damage if I put collars or anything else round them.

I've never got the huge chunky thick stems that you see at shows but they have plenty of flavour.

Thanks for the reply.

At the weekend I decided to knock the bottom out of some cardboard boxes and place it around the celery.
