I love the smell of pine, but have given up on having a fresh tree every year. I bought an 18 inch artificial one with neat decorations that looks quite realistic. It lives in a bag in the cellar and comes out for a couple of weeks every Christmas.
As to the question, they grow so easily from seed and grow naturally into a good shape so it isn't worth even trying to grow one that could grow lopsided from a cutting even if it took in the first place.
