Monkey puzzle fruit

Postby Monika » Sat Jun 09, 2018 10:00 pm

A friend has a large monkey puzzle tree which has produced huge fruits this year. We understand this is edible, but I have two questions: How does one harvest these fruit or does one have to wait until they drop? How does one eat them?

Any personal experiences?

There was a program on the television about this last week ,the trees were in a park somewhere and a ranger had rigged up ropes to climb them but when they got to the top they could not get the nuts as the branches proved impossible to get through ,the next way they tried was with a cherry picker they succeed getting a nut but it was disintegrating as they descended the conscientious was to let them fall the kernel seemed small for the size of the nut but the just tucked in to them
