Another newbie question.
If I am away for a couple of days at this time of year (May), is it better to throw the shade netting over the greenhouse to prevent possible overheating or leave it off to keep the light levels up?

Do you have friends or automatic systems spongy the watering and opening/closing of vents/windows?

If not then shading is the least of your worries :wink:

Peter
Is 'spongy' another Welsh word or a technical term I'm not familiar with?

I have automatic roof vents but not watering and the GH is kept locked when not here.

Re the shading question my query is as follows:

The tomatoes, cucumbers and melons are now in growbags but not yet in full growth and (I don't think) require watering every day unless it gets really hot in the GH;

I will give them all a good watering before I go;

If I don't shade and the temperature goes too high they could overheat and dry out;

If I do shade and the weather gets very dull and cool would they have problems of being too wet and cold;

So advice on which to choose would be welcome.

I don't like imposing on the neighbours too much and getting other non-gardening people to do the watering is dodgy.

Memo to self -> Must get watering system before summer holiday!
