I have just planted onion sets in a bed that previously contained strawberry plants that I have removed. Do I need to fertilise with Growmore or chicken manure pellets, or are the sets better not fertilised. My soil is light, almost sandy. Advice appreciated.

Dear Brenjon, i always work on the theory if you take something out you need to put something back, whether it's growmore or Chicken manure pellets the choice is yours.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I'm with OH on this one but I would wait till the bulb starts to fill out before feeding.
