I know what all of the books say about planting new canes etc, but I have some Autumn fruiting canes (that are still fruiting at the moment!!) and I wondered if instead of just cutting them down to ground level in Feb, when the fruit has gone I can dig some up and replant on my allotment, cutting down in late winter as per normal, or would they need a season to put in some more roots?
Thanks for the help all, and I will be the first to say merry xmas!! (it is only 6 weeks away)

If healthy you can use them. choose the strongest new canes with as much root as possible, cut back by 2/3 - 3/4, and replant. Cut out the old portion of canes when new ones are growing well from ground level - late spring/early summer - if you do it in February they will not establish so well - the plant needs a few leaves to feed itself (photosynthesise) in spring.

Good luck
