The idea is sound but I bet it would cost a fortune to install enough to water the whole vegetable garden, unless of course you made your own pots like on the video. Then you'd need a kiln to fire them. You still have to go round filling them up with water so it wouldn't save time, just a more efficient use of water.

It certainly seems to tick the non evaporation box as apparently the surface of the soil remains dry. The water Is released at the level where the roots are which when you think about it is a very sensible concept as much light rain is completely wasted, evaporation g from the surface before it,s beneficial to plants.

I suppose burying a trickle type hose several inches below the surface of the soil would,probably have a similar effect.

Beechgrove Garden did it by burying vertical lengths of perforated drainage pipe alongside shrubs they were planting then filling them with water.
