I have 3 plants of the Winter Squash, Sweetmax which I bought from Marshalls. These were potted on in the greenhouse inquite large pots to get as big a rootball as possible and avoid any late cold or windy weather. Planted out they are doing quite well. Advice is to stop the main shoot after they have reach a couple of feet which I have duly done.

Now some of the side-shoots are also getting quite long and I am wondering about stopping them? Seems logical.

No sign of flowers yet but they should be plenty of time. Even the Courgettes have only just started to produce rather small fruits.

Hi Colin!

I don't stop mine until there are fruit on them, then I stop it at 3 usually if proper big pumpkins / squash but may 4 if smaller butternut type plants.
