On the topic of beans, my over wintered broad bean plants are now about 12inches high and are flowering, is this normal, should I worry or just keep watering and weeding? Other's beans seem to be doing the same on the same site.
If I am not on the plot, I am not happy.........

Sounds like your doing great Compo, you'll be eating them soon.

Have you tried eating the pods? There nice picked when there about 3" long, then steamed. So are the tops when you pinch them out.

Thanks for the advice PT,,,,will they get bigger than a foot even though they are flowering

On the subject of Bean Weevil I sprayed mine two weeks ago with an organic (apologies for using bad language!) crysanthemum extract insectiside spary from B& Q which knocked back the bean weevil, 2.99 from B & Q also works on aphids and other pests.
