Hello NB!

When I started gardening, it was my grandad whom I asked for advice!

When planting cabbages etc he used to always say, what size of shoes do you wear, well put your size 9's on there.

Brassicas really do like firm planting!

Though saying that, when planted in the farmers field beside my plot. they do not do any heavy tramping and when he plants his they do very well, even when there is not a lot of rain about!
Cheers!
Buy land, they do not make it anymore!

Graph paper.. computer plans? Ay me!

I just go out and plant, knowing what went where last year etc and what did best and what did not do well. A carrot bed gets deeply and finely dug so is good for everything and then this year's new carrot bed gets finely dug etc etc etc. Wind direction and shelter matter too.
