I wouldn't bother, Connie. Moss is as green as lawn grass and, unless it gets really, really dry in summer (when the moss goes brown), your lawn will remain green throughout the year. Our lawns as more moss than grass but lovely soft and spongy.

Hi Connie, I would advise against raking the moss until it's dead, or you would just spread the moss spores.
I use sulphate of iron to kill it and then rake it. It goes black when dead. Be sure to apply before rain is expected, otherwise water it in thoroughly. Afterwards apply Amonium Sulphate as a tonic for the grass. Both can be applied together as a dry mix if you prefer and I believe both can be mixed with water then sprayed on to the lawn. However I find that the Sulphate of iron doesn't mix very well and tends to block the sprayer, so I do dry S of Iron first then water on the S of Amonia. A Google search will give you the mix?application quanties.
Hope this helps, D.

Hi Diarmund, Yes that was really helpful, any idea though, how soon after treating i can reseed? As I don’t want the landlord thinking i have ruined his lawn :(

Hi Connie, You may not need to reseed. The Sulphate of amonia gives a real boost to the grass that's there. If you find reseeding is necessary just roughen the area needing seed and sow as soon as you like.

D.
