Have you ever had such pests? If not, then it is highly advisable to treat the site with an insecticide, because these pests can overwinter and next year spoil your harvest again. If this happens every year, you need to look for a source, perhaps even on your site.

The veg bed is new, so never had them before. I want to try and avoid using any insecticide on my beds
