Evening all, my first post.
Is it too late to sow Lavender and Thyme seed?
These two seem to me to be expensive to buy plants at the garden center.
I am on an exposed hillside site at 1350' but I do have a small greenhouse.

Dear NAD,
it is not too late. Sow thinly onto compost that has some sand added to it in a 1:4 ratio. Cover the seeds with about 1/2 a centimetre of vermiculite and keep moist until germination occurs; do not exclude light. The plants will be too small to plant outside this year and will need to be kept in a frost free place over winter and planted out next spring. When the seedlings are big enough to handle I usually separate out the lavender seedlings individually but I will put 4-5 seedlings of thyme together in one pot as this makes a better "plant" quicker. For cooking the English winter thyme is recommended.
Regards Sally Wright.
