Hi, just bought 2 bags of Gemson seed potatoes but am not sure about storage. We want to put 1 bag in as soon as possible and then keep the other bag a bit longer so we have new potatoes for Christmas. Unfortunately we don't have a garage so are not sure how to store the 1st and 2nd bags and where
Would appreciate any advice please

Welcome to the forum Puajj!

You can plant your Xmas potatoes from next month. You can plant them in the ground but there is a risk of slug damage as there isn't too much else for the slimy things during the autumn/winter months so if you can get hold of any potato grow sacks or even grow bags stood on the vertical with something to put the excess soil in until you top them up work well & more chance of unblemished potatoes. You could start chitting these now so they get a few weeks. I wouldn't bother chitting the ones you plan to grow now, just get them in so they can get growing. Gemson's aren't huge spud so you should be fine, just keep earthing them up like you would normally do.

No need to 'store' either, plant one bag as soon as possible as you stated & take the others out of the net or bag into a tray to chit until next month.

Hi, I have a question to you that how long do gemson potatoes take to grow?

Gemson potatoes are Second Earlies so 15-22 weeks
