My solar tunnel is now around 5 years old and the soil at the base of the plastic has become waterlogged. Obviously, it is 'the nature of the beast' that water drips down the plastic sides and also from the struts which run along the length of the tunnel.

Any suggestions?

Hi Spike,

Do you mean on the outside or on the inside and by solar tunnel do you mean a polytunnel?

If it is the outside I suggest you put holes with a garden fork into the buried plastic. If on the inside I think you need more ventilation.

I'm not the best authority but I don't like to see an ignored question.

Regards, Gerry.

Hi Gerry - it is a Solar Tunnel. Just like a poly tunnel with stronger plastic cover and supports. The soil is very well drained loam on sand and everywhere else in the garden I have no drainage problem. The waterlogging is inside the tunnel, and just due to the constant dripping from the walls. The rest of the soil is quite dry.
