I think you should Bring your Plants Inside if its possible. Add a Thick Layer of Mulch.

When I was a kid, we had a stray cat who used to creep into our greenhouse every night in winter to sleep protected from the weather. My dad had a large metal container which used to be used to for petrol. Being a "softie" he filled it every night with boiling water and put it near the straw filled box he stored in there for the stray cat to sleep in.

Rather late in the day responding to your original query but I wonder if this would work to help keep your plants protected from the cold if there are only a few of them?
