I decided to hoe some of the weeds on the untended adjoining plot to me this morning.
As well as numerous beetles, I came across a lovely green form of the elephant hawk moth caterpillar.
Typically, I didn't take the camera with me today

Link to some pics here. It is the 30mm green form.

Hi PJ. They are fascinating, unfortunately I couldn't get your link to give me a picture of one.
Ps that was mighty generous of you, hope they appreciate your kindness. :)

Hi NB,

If you scroll down the list of names on the left until you get to Elephant Hawk Moth, it should give you a loads of pics of all the stages :)

The plot next door has been given up. The chap is in his mid 80s and has been ill a lot this year, so I was just clearing some of the weeds along the border with mine.
Cheers PJ.

Ah got it, thank you, those false eyes get you, can be seen right accross the garden. and when disturbed they seem to make them more prominent. :)
