After the ranger re-located our two adders it was a relaxing year not having to check their location on the plot first before getting onto what needs doing - today there was another one. Pretty late for a first sighting so must have just moved in.
Was a big shock to see her basking under the canes I was going for but prompted me to clear the weeds along the back fence rather smartish!

Do you have a pond Westi? I believe they are quite partial to newts and toads, as well as small rodents, probably some food source attracting them
Sit down before a fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconcieved notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abyss nature leads, or you shall learn nothing.

No pond but hedgerow right behind, then a feild, then the railway bank
which is full of them. This girlie obviously wanted a bit more comfort and
quiet so moved house. At least I shouldn't have any mice in the shed.
