Does anyone know if Swallows, Martins etc nest & rear young when they migrate to Africa or wherever ?

I wouldn't think so, gloworm. Their winter quarters are their resting time before they return to Europe to breed. If they bred at their winter quarters, they would do so twice a year, which they don't.

So I wonder what determines their breeding country, maybe food source ?
