Many small bird losses overwinter - we only had one blue tit at the bird table this spring, she was back today with 2 young, helping them and teaching them to feed themselves. Time still for more babies, I am putting out food all year to try and help the population recovery, and warm nest boxes too.
Sit down before a fact as a little child, be prepared to give up every preconcieved notion, follow humbly wherever and to whatever abyss nature leads, or you shall learn nothing.

We've been watching busy parents at one of our boxes and in the end couldn't resist getting the ladder out for a peek. Found 10 lovely chicks about to fledge.
