You may remember me asking about some Burford Brown pullets a while ago, well in the end I settled for 6 point of lay Black Rocks.Had them just 3 weeks now and picked the first egg up yesterday. As it would be difficult to frame it, I guess I'll just have to eat it.

Not to be left out my Bee's have had a fantastic year.I'm busy extracting Honey at the moment, and it will be my best year ever thanks to the long hot summer. I will be feeding them in the next week or so, and getting them tucked up ready for winter.

I remember when I first had chickens (8 of them) and all at point of lay. Nothing happened for a couple of weeks and my boyfriend decided to play a trick on me and plant an egg for me to find. I knew it wasn't one from the girls, unless they have a new breed of chicken with a sell by date stamp up it's bum. However, they got so eggcited at seeing an egg that four of them laid the following day. I was so suprised that I checked them for sell by dates as I thought I was being conned again. It was magic and even 13 years on I still love finding freshly laid eggs.
