How old are my chicks?

Love to have animals around? Perhaps you're being plagued by them? All your tips here...

Last weekend I bought 6 mixed chicks from the auction (only 50p each, the step-son wanted a chicken for his birthday). However I don't know how old they are. They have primary feathers, but they are still peeping rather than clucking or crowing.

When will I be able to tell the males (for the pot) from the females?

Their prime purpose is to help clear the grassland ready for cultivation, so I'm not concerned over breeding or egglaying.

Have got any pictures? They might help.

Sorry John, but the digital camera is on the blink!

Most are males and have just started a bit of posturing :!:

Been thanked: 1 time

Female chicks posture just as much as male chicks - so you might not have all males.
