The great woodpecker has started to drum and the blackbirds are singing. How's that for the sounds of spring?

Our telegraph drummer boy has been at it too - I wonder if he is looking for a mate from away? Had Buzzards circling and calling overhead today, haven't seen them for a while.

The cock chaffinches, were singing their simple song nicely yesterday afternoon. It made pruning my fruit trees a very enjoyable job.
