For the last week or two we've been finding mysterious shallow scrapes/holes appearing in our front lawn. I'm assuming it's foxes?? We live in suburbia and I' ve heard foxes screeching in the middle of the night. Is there anything we can do to stop them? Do fox deterrent remedies/sonic repellents, etc. work ? Never had it happen before and we've lived in the same house for 42 years.

It could also possibly be badgers who are digging up the lawn to search for worms which are one of the things they eat. Have you treated your lawn with any kind of bonemeal fertiliser lately as possibly the smell could be attracting animals? Probably not much you can do about it. Popular myth is that putting human urine on the ground will deter them, but haven't tried it so don't know how effective it is. Perhaps somebody else on here can advise on that point.

It could be cats! They will scratch around if they have been marking. Or rabbits if you have them around.
