Just been watching a couple of hummingbird hawk moths busy in the garden.
They have been alternating between lavender and buddleia for about the last hour or so.
Such a lovely sight

Two plants they favour PJ, I saw one yesterday on some rosebay willowherb at the top of our lane.

There was one hovering about the sweet williams a couple of weeks ago.
I stood watching it for ages.

I'd never heard of these before so had to google them to see pictures/videos etc. What amazing creatures.
I'm now so excited about getting this garden into shape so entice all these lovely animals into my garden.

We tend to see them on our red valerian and have had two so far this year. What always amazes me is the way they move, darting sideways, helicopter-fashion, from flower to flower. I don't think we shall see any this week, with maximum temperatures no higher than 15 degrees!
