hello all I have just got a second hand Suffolk punch 43 and I am looking for some help on a few issues.

1. when I am starting this mower I set it to full revs and when I pull the start cable. once it start I bring down the revs to idle it will then cut out as I am doing so.

2 when I have the mower started I will give it full revs and it begins to vibrate and rattle a lot not sure why.

I have still got to do some restoration such as cleaning and sharpening of the blades so any help is much appreciated.

First thing to do is clean the carb out. If the machine has a DelOrto carb and has been laid up it may not run right for a while even with a clean carb. See my earlier posts about this. The alloy engine was always a fairly rattly device, but I believe the chassis could crack round the engine mounts and rattle even more, so worth checking there for cracks.
