Kitchen Garden readers are among the most knowledgeable around. This year Anna Ford is hosting a brand new BBC Radio 4 Gardening Quiz, and a KG reader could be the one to take the crown! KG readers are invited to take part in this competition, which aims to find the best gardening brains in Britain.

Each week, four contestants will have to answer questions on all things gardening – from horticulture, to gardens in music, from botany to the chequered history of garden designers. The programme makers say that it will be a quick paced, punchy mixture of quick-fire, specialist, plantsmanship, famous gardens, art and music rounds.

They are looking for 32 knowledgeable contestants – they could be amateur gardeners with a good level of knowledge, they can even work as a gardener, garden designer, or nurseryman/woman. They might just love reading gardening books for pleasure.

The contest will be recorded from September to November 2007; the programme makers hope to secure all the contestants by the end of July. Broadcasting will take place from Jan 2008 onwards.

Interested? Then email the programme researcher, Lucy Greenwell ([email protected]) with your phone number and she, or one of her colleagues will call you for a chat.
