Re: Courgettes - Should I be worried?

Thank you for all your advice, which I have followed. And commiserations to Pawti, Westi and Cider Boys. I still think I just have beginner's luck, so please no vegetable envy! So, I nipped the first couple of courgettes, and now lots of things are growing... One flower has just open overnight! It l...

Re: Courgettes - Should I be worried?

Thank you guys, I can now go to sleep without worries - for now. With regards to the size of the plant, I should disclose that I put 10 seeds in a propagator and only 3 came up to something. Two are very small and growing at bonsai pace, while this one decided to try to become a baobab... There was ...

Courgettes - Should I be worried?

A couple of month ago KG mag gave a pack of courgette seeds with the magazine. I tried it and got a rather amazing plant growing almost by the minute... [I discovered this is normal] It is now planted out in a pot. Flowers are coming up nicely and I can detect some micro courgettes already. Am busy ...

To give away:5 packets of seeds

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

Thanks Pawty! So yes indeed - a potting weekend ahead! First must source larger pots as compost has been delivered. And I will investigate about the last frost date - that is a great piece of advice you just gave me - THANK YOU. On other seedling news, the radishes in the raised bed outside are now ...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

Hello all. Advice needed if I may. My nice little seedlings are growing nicely and I can see some roots coming out of the bottom of the little plastic pots. At this time of year, do I repot them in slightly larger pots with John Innes 2 (or 3?) and keep them in the conservatory, or is it time to put...

Re: Watering / irrigation system?

Thanks Pa Snip - I was wondering about these seeping pipes, so will stay clear of them. The hozelock route seems the good one to take. Have a nice day!

Watering / irrigation system?

Hello, I have built 5 raised beds at the bottom of my garden and wonder if anyone has any advice with regards to installing an irrigation/watering system? There seems to be quite a lot of choice out there from different brands, so am wondering if anyone could share first hand experience in installin...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

Thank you for your notes of encouragement Pawty and Geoff . I was worried that these tomato seedlings were weak but you confirm they look good, THANK YOU, I shall keep the group abreast of their progress! I would just like to reiterate that I am a complete newbie at gardening, yes indeed , despite t...

Re: How are your seedlings doing?

Brand new at gardening, so placed a month ago lots of different tomato seeds and strawberries in propagators for a start and have used my conservatory as a greenhouse (so cold at night!). Have just repotted tomato seedlings into growing compost... I hope at least a few will give some fruits! The str...
