Hi Primrose -
it's pale yellow/cream and the shape of a butternut!
Don't know of anyone growing marrows near by, but it's not the sort of street where you talk to your neighbour, so who knows!

I'll wait till it's a bit bigger and then cook it and see what happens :o

Thanks everyone! I do take the KG magazine every month and have looked at the listed suppliers. I just wasn't sure whether to get a catalogue from every one or try to limit the options by recommendation. Ultimately, I will probably be focusing on "traditional" varieties, especially if I ca...

I have what I think is a butternut squash growing in the garden. Just the one on the whole plant. I wouldn't mind but it was supposed to be a marrow I know I'm knew to all this but even I can tell the difference. just not sure how or why it happened. I assume a stray seed got put in the wrong packet?

What was it I heard the other day?

I don't go to church anymore but I always used to enjoy harvest festival, too. and the supper afterwards, although the time I tried to "waitress" was a complete disaster!

Oh dear Oh dear - I have one of those at home too. He doesn't buy spuds as he grew ours and he's very proud of them. he does have a tendency to buy other veg though as he says it's preferable to having courgettes AGAIN!

Grey hair looks so distinguised on men! And men definitely age better than women. Try the dancing Jopsy -I'd recommend it to (almost) anyone. Unfortunatly I had to give up when studying took over but it was always one of the best 2hrs of my week! Herby, no more secrets I'm afraid. (apart from my sec...

I'm probably going to regret saying this but here goes.... i used to go to belly dancing classes. Not only were a lot of the ladies there well passed the first flush of youth, but the instructor was well into her 70's and a bl@@dy amazing inspiration. So full of energy and enthusiasm and always laug...

If all it takes to the keep the ladies in your life happy is runner beans, then you're very lucky! Next year, though, I need to do something about mine too! My canes (in a sort of wigwam) keep falling over. I, too, shall try to grow veg that we actually like. and I need to plan in advance and make s...
