I have trouble with aphids on an apple tree,the one close to a vigorous rambling rose so yes,I think the enclosed atmosphere of your scrubby bit in between the trees could be providing shelter and an aphid breeding ground.I find mine improves after I prune the rose back in a couple of weeks time and...

Roundup (glyphosate) will get it eventually.It is very effective when it is actively growing so don't cut it back before spraying!and you dont need to soak the foliage either.

I have used it round my blackcurrants,redcurrants,gooseberries and strawberries.I put it down on top of newspaper about 4 or 5 sheets thick which gives about a years worth of weed supression and moisture retention in one go and rots down to enrich the soil.They all seem to thrive on it.

Has any one else noticed how cheap books go at general auctions,as though nobody values them,even really old ones,OH has a book of sermons from 1690 which only cost £10 or something ridiculous and no he's not a vicar he just loves the language!

I agree Peter,I did a small post a few days ago saying how great my dehydrator machine is,I put in some fruit to dry and the whole house smells of fresh strawberries or I open the windows.Beats those puffing chemicals.

I used to have a duck like that...she would follow me around and then poo under the bed (wood floor thank goodness)when she was little she had her swim in the sink.If she encountered a man with a beard she would jump on their lap and try to nibble it off!
