I certainly concur with listening to Sarah Brightman. I have her "Timeless" album which would be my No 1 desert island disc. Having said that, when I'm at the lottie, I never listen to music; I just enjoy the quiet. :)

I agree. Mine dug over a thistle bed without removing a single root. I had about 100 times the thistles within 6 months; but he did his best and did it for me which is what counts. :)

I have to agree about Mozart's 40th. I remember a version coming out on 45rpm by the Waldo Rios Orchestra or something like that which I bought with my pocket money when I was seven years old. I've heard infinitely better renditions since but none that has made quite such an impression in my life. :D

My cat Rosie, having not set paw outside the house since early November, is occasionally to be seen sneaking out into the garden so I'm hopeful spring is approaching. She is old (heading toward 17) so I'm not sure she's a good indicator now; she might just have forgotten it's still winter.

Girl Power!

Take a look at the centre pages of the Daily Telegrah today (Friday 27 January 2006). There's a great big article on the number of women taking on the male dominated world of allotments. Hasn't happened round my way it has to be said, we're very much in the minority but have been made nothing but we...

I've tried persuading my partner that gardening is good but to no avail. He did help with a half hour's digging 3 years ago but since then just a photo of a spade is enough to give him lower back pain. Any of his trips to the plot involve a garden chair and the newspaper! He's very horticulturally c...

No problem!

No, there's not a problem. I had the same thing happen to me and emailed Leigh to ask what was happening. It seems that when you "send" a PM, it stays in your Outbox until it is collected by the recipient. It's not like email which just goes and you don't know if its arrived. If someone's ...

Hmmm. I can see what you mean but if the zodiac signs follow the moon, you'd still be planting by the moon. I admit that the plant only during certain signs is difficult to swallow but hey, I have every intention of giving it a go because I can't mock what I've never tried. I admit I'm sceptical but...

Jars

Hi Grock I've just ordered some jars from Lakeland which are very reasonable 12 x 8ox are £4.50 and 12 x 1lb are £4.95. I'm against buying stuff when I can recycle but I simply don't have enough jars to get properly started. Anything I give away will have a proviso that the jars come back! Chantal

I've seen them move and I thought it was my eyesight too or I need to take more water with it. I'm so glad it's not just me...

Just noticed, the pen beside Planting by the Moon is on the move as I write! :!:
