Puts me to shame... no outside lights, no inside lights, no tree, have got some fake fir garlands across the beams and I hung up some Christmas cards this morning! Went to the tip, sorry, Civic Amenity Site, this morning and got rid of some 'bulky household waste' (in the bin with the purple sign p...

I certainly am. And I get confounded by recipes configured in grammes tooo. . This definitely counts as what our market veg stall holder defines as "queer gear" And i am never got to grips with the American weight of "cups" of flour or other ingredients either. They're just ment...

Re: Early Winter Bits and Bobs.
Huge smile. I just pulled a mahoosive leek, this year is the first time I grew leeks. A few early ones I pulled were lovely but these mahoosive ones appear to have forgotten they are leeks and-so present Solid mass of leek rather than, erm, like An onion. Why would you want a solid mass of leek, pl...

Hungarian Hot Wax Peppers

They seemed quite bland, as though they should be an accompianament to a Doner Kebab on a Friday night. This year they have become a lot hotter ( we have moved from Eastbourne to Gra...

Garlic question
The received wisdom appears to be that garlic requires sub-zero temoeratures to split.
The garlic bulbs I've just bought from Tesco come from Spain.
Are these from a very rare area of Spain that actually has sub-zero temperatures or is the received wisdom wrong ?
Your thoughts please.

We cat even buy kale that hasn't been chopped up and put into a plastic bag complete with the woody stalks. Kale, what a fantastic plant. I cut all the big leaves off every stalk mostly leaving bare stalks and a few weeks later those bare stalks produced lovely fresh kale leaves even better than th...
