Re: Are they taking the p**s?

We could have our very own outward bound centre for aging gardeners, all facilities provided.

Must dash, I feel a contribution to the fund coming on....

Doesn't matter if you don't watch live TV, if your equipment of whatever sort is capable of receiving live broadcast you have to pay for a licence or you are breaking the law.

Re: The Referendum

I just want to see an impartial political expert with good communication skills write some 3 minute nutshell briefings!

Channel 4, BBC, ITV, don't care which, please take note!

Yes, that little pet appeared on the local news site! He's been stood in a cafe garden for a few years, perhaps he wants to wander off to live with the others on our dinosaur coast!

Bit big for recycling though...

Re: Hot bed???

Many years ago when I worked in a really old market garden we used to build beds in the cucumber house, (think old brick-sided Victorian here with cast iron heating pipes) by placing a line of new straw bales down the sides, dressing them with Urea and Sulphate of Ammonia, if I remember rightly, and...

Re: Getting Madder & too Old!

Short-haired pointer? One of my big boy springer spaniels once did an amazing balancing act on top of the garden gate, all four feet on a 2" wide top bar with a picket fence top. So all 4 feet in a different gap, swaying backwards and forwards at an unknown prospective visitor... I had to do a ...

Re: Good times ahead, Bits and Bobs.

The fact that they survived past germination point may have something to do then with the fact that my neighbour plot has been kept pristine instead of overgrown and he's killed off the marauding slugs!

My soil is very stony, just below an old chalk pit so full of flints, I'll have to live with that!

Re: Good times ahead, Bits and Bobs.

For the first year ever I have parsnips, funny shaped ones but still parsnips! Usually don't get past the germination stage, they come up and then disappear.

More power to your elbow Pa Snip! Keep on trucking!

Re: Getting Madder & too Old!

It's the question that asks if you have any aliases that gets me, as though we all go around under assumed names for nefarious purposes. Like you'd tell them if you did... And I've been with my solicitors for donkeys years but the last couple of times I've bought a house they still ask for a form to...

Re: Getting Madder & too Old!

With you on this one Westi. I had no photo ID, passport ran out years ago, old style driving licence etc. My mum and dad were better than me as they had bus passes! It was almost a relief to move house so I had to get a new driving licence with a photo.

Re: Healthy living fatigue.

An alcoholic craves a drink whatever. A member of my other half's family used to have gin for breakfast (and most other meals as well...)and hid the full and empty bottles all over the house because they thought nobody would know. They were ashamed of drinking and hid it. It's a terrible thing to wa...

Re: Healthy living fatigue.

Well lets face it, food is nice.... and when life is being the proverbial bitch you crave something to give you comfort. Some people find it in alcohol, some in drugs and some in food. Some even become addicted to exercise. It's a quick and temporary fix. Any addiction is 'needing' not just 'wanting'.
