I think it was Chez. Ilove working on my plot with the old ipod going. Like you Lizzie I have very ecclectic tastes with anything from the Artic monkey, through to Kate Rusby, Bach, Sarah Brightman, Mozart and even sampling System of a down. It really goes from walking on clouds to beating dustbins ...

spring

Hi Chez,, the buzzards that lurk around the quarry I work in have also just reappeared and have once again taken up the sport of dropping hares. It is noticably lighter in the afternoon now and my rhubard has started to erupt, onions seeds have come up and the fruit bushes budding up well. I know sp...

Well Allan, you set yourself up for that one, it did make me laugh.

Quality music though I must agree.

girls on top

Hi Lizzie, on our site quite a few of the plots are now tended by the "extra rib brigade" and excellent it is too. In fact about 70% of new pots let are to ladies. I think that the old boys love the fact that they are seen as very knowledgable and are asked for help by the less experienced...

shoots

My rhubarb crowns are just showing buds about to break but these are hidden just under the soil. Be a bit more patient and they should show.

plants

I agree with you on the plants Jane, I always find them a wee bit expensive as well.

Piglet

Anyway you lot, ask Mrs Piglet, I am a veritable walking hot water bottle and if I hugged my new tree it would be in blossom within 10 minutes!

Fruit trees

I have just collected a Victoria Plum Tree fom James Coles & Sons who are our local Nursery. As they specialise in growing trees and are local I thought it worth while using them. At £29.90 the half standard tree certainly was not cheap but when collected it was huge, 10` high with a good root s...

pruning

Sue, our friends farm orchard was the same and consists of about 20 old trees that had been neglected. We gave them a good trim and got them into good order, they fruited poorly the next year primarily because all of the fruiting spurs were cut back but the year after they had a new lease of life, m...

pork futures

Hi Jane, excuse the screen name but on a serious note, I enjoy pork but find the vast majority of it quite bland, even that supplied by our village butcher who is very good. On occasion we buy in from quality breeders and the tast is divine. Put me on the list for a joint or two, top dollar paid. I ...

passata

Hi Chez, Whilst being no expert I think that the tomatoes used in passata are generally drier than ones you have in salads and not that nice to eat that way. The difference is that if you were to put the passata tomato pulp in a sieve, nothing would strain through, whereas eating tomato pulp would s...
