Re: Saving Sweet Potato
I think 3 months of growing season remaining, but now I'm getting nice tubers: https://i.imgur.com/a5ESld2_d.webp?maxwidth=640 But definitely, it's too early for harvest. Only 2-3 bigger tubers are present, the rest are either missing (only roots are present) or very small. I will try again after 2 ...

Janet K. Sullivan wrote:Yes, you can save sweet potato for next year. But need to follow few step. You have stored them in a dry places. Don`t put them in a cool places.
Some people used to "cure" them first, what do you think, does that really make any differennce?

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
Thanks. I guess Bangladesh is very warm country, so sweet potatoes grow very well there. In my case, it depends how hot weather is it. Now temperature is +22 C only and +13 night, but higher temperatures are expected again soon. Almost all plants are "all purple" species. They grow 0.5m de...

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
Must say that, this year I'm getting excellent, hot summer. Late, but much more hot so far. Optimal conditions for tropical plants. Definitely, tunnel is unnecesary
I just realized how much work will be required to harvest them all, well it won't be easy! I hope I will able to do that

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
No, it's completly different unrelated plant. They don't share any pests or diseases with potato. The name is similar, but they have nothing to do with potato. Sweet potato is bindweed family, the same as convolvulus, even flowers look almost the same. https://i.imgur.com/rRBOQnc.jpg New tubers are ...

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
Well, possible you can feed them with something and it helps to get larger tubers. However, better to don't do that unless you really know what are you doing. And better don't feed than overfeed, especially with nitrogen.
As they grow fine so far, I don't want to bother with it.

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
I don't feed them at all. I think soil is not very rich there. I don't want to feed them unless really required, because there's a risk to get large leaves and no tubers. I don't know what to use to feed them also.

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
Sure, you can share some pics. Mine are only outdoors, all of them. Night temperature.. I guess it's between +17 and +20 most the time in my case, but minimal value just before sunrise is 12-15.
Day temperatures are nice so far, 23-25 in the shadow, but sunny places are very hot.

Finally getting warm weather. They grow pretty fast, although old leaves created indoors are completly burned by sun uv radiation:
New leaves appear very fast. Not bad overall. How is yours?

So, after 3 weeks:

Re: Saving Sweet Potato
In my location, spring is incredibly cold, especially May was more cold than usual. I hope weather is going to become more warm. It's almost June!
I'm really irritated so far, places where it should be cold are actually hot Siberia for example, every day +30, Russia - Moscow or Norway is also warm
