strawberry plant death
Can anyone help pinpoint why a percentage of our new strawberry plants, full of developing fruit are collapsing? They start off looking a little thirsty, but watering doesn't help and they are badly wilting and the developing fruit are drying up. Agh, after the woodlice dilemma we bought all new pla...

Re: wobbly brassicas
Thanks JB! The second batch are now ready for pricking out. I shall put them in bigger pots and see how we go!
You could be right bout the compost. I'm not liking recent years composts to be honest. The quality is ever declining, to the plants' detriment.

Re: wobbly brassicas
Thanks JB, that all sounds perfectly reasonable, but they weren't in the modules (large size, not tiddlers) long enough to go 'hungry' in my opinion. They did do as you say, wilt, then go pale and lifeless from the lower set of leaves. They are now perking up a bit, and I have also resown as well. A...

Re: wobbly brassicas
they are getting sicker and sicker, all hanging down and shrivelled. I am quite upsert, there are about 10 different varieteis, and it's too late to re sow most of them. Thanks for all your advice, I am going to leave them for now. They still have roots, as they dont pull out of the pots so who know...

wobbly brassicas
hmmm, my broccoli and sprout plantlets are not looking very happy. I pricked out the little seedlings into modules ages ago, and they grew on quite happily. Over tha last week or so, the older leaves (about 2-3 per plant) are wilting and hanging down and bginning to turn what can only be described a...

Re: Bread maker
What an extremely interesting thread! I have been using my panasonic for 4 years now. I get the odd duff loaf, mainly these are the gluten free ones for me, but DH's bread is always fine and dandy. I use dove's yeast and asda strong brown & white bread flour. Also I sometimes use doves malted gr...

Re: A nice crop of plastic bags
Having just spent a month in OZ and NZ, I am absolutely appalled by the amount of rubbish just lying around here. It is quite a revolting sight. Down under, the streets are clean as a whistle, not a crisp wrapper in sight. Hardly the same can be said of my driveway. I think passers by must use front...

Re: plants that don't get stolen... ideas?
how about purple sprouts?
Apparently, there is also a new yellow strawberry, not sure if it's available yet, but birds are certainly deterred from pilferring them, so the general public should be too??
good luck!

Re: I have begun my first foray into the world of veggie growing
Hello Piglet6! So glad you are venturing into growing veg, you won't regret it, and neither will your DH, hopefully, once he realises how great everything tatses, and how wonderful they will look growing in their pots. It sounds like you have a good plan, and have researched a bit about growing cond...
