What do you think burning the sulphur gives you over washing down with Jeyes or my organic botanical disinfectant?

Greenhouse invasion!
Hi all Went to dig over the soil in the ghouse bed today and it is almost completly full of fine fibrous roots. I guess they are sprouting from tree roots that I cut through when the house was erected last year. The Ghouse is only 6ft from a laurel hedge (20ft tall) so I think the roots are probably...

Re: Grenhouse Fumigation
Cheers Fred, good advice indeed. I didn't use Jeyes in the end but I will be going down there this morning just to check that my organic natural disinfectant (no idea whats in it) hasnt had the same effect.
Do you just use jeyes or do u also use the smoke bombs?

Thanks for your advice it is is useful, its all the little wrinkles that you can pick up that make this so fascinating. I do have heating, both a heated propagator and a fan heater with a ...

Re: Greenhouse or Swimming Pool?
Just thinking about a police program I saw where they discovered a whole house that had been used to grow drugs - the rooms were all blacked out to prevent prying eyes and the rooms lit with lamps - but the walls were covered in what looked like tin foil and the lighting was remarkably even. Maybe c...

New greenouse planting plan
Hi all This is a big ask so I hope you are all feeling friendly. I bought a Robinson 8 x 10 last year and just grew tomatoes and peppers etc with a few flowering plants like carnations. This year I would really like to make it work hard as a growing place as well as providing the seedlings for the r...

Re: Grenhouse Fumigation
I'm interested in any answers too as when I went to get the Jeyes in the GC the shelves were full of organic natural disinfectants which I bought. I filled the sprayer and covered the inside getting into all the little nooks and crannys then left it shut up for two days. Do you think this will work ...

As Peter says the Mantis is a small rotovator but easily big enough for allotments unless you are taking on the task of clearing 10 rod in a single day - which you shouldnt be. I don't have the time for digging and the mantis easily digs to a spit depth and produces a lovely tilth. It also mixes in ...

Hi I divided mine into 4ft wide beds on the thinking that you can reach from either side without walking on it. Then strimmed off everything that was above knee height and sprayed with weedkiller (the stuff that stops when it reaches the soil) given a week or so to die down and a good raking to get ...

Greenhouse borders - what growing medium?
Hello everyone Just had my new Robinson 10 x 8 greenhouse erected today. Ive dug out borders either side of the path to about a spit but what to fill them with? The soil that came out is very poor dry stuff having been under a large shed for @ 10 years so it no good on its own. I'm wondering if I sh...

Which way round?
Hello everyone. My new Robinson 10X8 is being put up on Wednesday but I cant decide which way round to have the bench/shelf and wonder what the wisdom is. The house comes with a 25" width bench down one side and half width shelf above it - the full length of the house. The sun will come predomi...
