Just seen a butterfly i have never seen before, could be a holly blue but i have never seen one of those either, it was about just over half the size of a cabbage white with a dark patch on the inside of the wing 2/3mm deep along the outer edge the rest of it was pale blue. Any comments anyone?

Had a morning on the allotment, gave it all a good helping of nemaslug,first time i have used it ,it will be interesting to see if it does work.

I am no authority on compost but i have been using morrisons it,s rich and dark and hardly any twigs or lumps in it and at £9 for 3x70ltr bags it,s plenty good enough for my needs

don,t really need a wormery we have a regular supply of manure from a local stable and within 6months it,s nearly 50% worms,nearly everyone on the allotment is pleased with it and it,s free.

Thanks for the input robo,no plant as yet but was hoping to hire a JCB for 3 or 4 hrs, robo, we did the car park with small crush and run a couple of years ago and thats nearly disappeared so would think it needs something a bit heavier trouble is we hav,nt got a big budget but thanks for the input ...

road repair

Has anyone on the forum had anything to do with repairing the road/track on their allotment? I have got the task of repairing the main track on ours it has a lot of potholes and is really sludgy when it,s wet, I am not sure what aggregate to use as i have never done it before. Has anyone got any ide...

I gathered together all the 25mm plastic pipe and the 28mmID x 5ft metal pipe and made the framework for a 12ftx12ft netted tunnel for my brassica bed, good days work i think, it,s probably cost me about 30 quid,i think a wonder wall tunnel would have been about 200 quid, good result!

Had about 3 hours on the lottie this morning got the beds ready for planting in the greenhouse and polytunnel then dug the bed for the spuds which turned over quite easy, i think a lot of the rain has missed us.

Talking of chillies i had a christmas present of a day out for two to a chilli growing workshop, I expect to go in a couple of months time, I will ask some questions on the pearls and let people know if it helps.

I think i read it on this forum about putting jeyes fluid down, it dosn,t kill them but apparantly they don,t like it and it keeps them away, just wondered if anyone had tried it.
