Checked today for curds,definatly begining in 4 more.If these spread over the season it is perfect for the amount we eat,is this because of this years weird weather or normal for this variety?

I usually train any big bits up a cane,stuff nice copious growth in a big plastic bag,spray contents liberaly with glyo-phos,seal bag with loose tie around stem. Otherwise it`s weeding carefully by hand,every little bit of root left will regrow,garenteed. DO NOT JUST DIG IT OVER....see above. Anybod...

Are the new leaves a nice pale green and shiney?- if so in my experience it`s healthy.I do wonder about the feeding,the one I have in a container is 3 yrs,in a smallish pot and I have only fed it once,I suspect there are others with better advice.

Vivianne,have just read in gardening section of newspaper that `sap` from lime tree is actually produced by incontinent greenfly in the tree,it didn`t mention sycamores.Not practical information I know!

Finally started raining here 15 mins ago and still going strong,actually very heavy now,pity I didn`t cut a lettuce earlier as they will now all be mud covered but perkey.

Yes we`ve also had screaming frogs tho` worse is in winter when you find them standing,one front leg raised desicated and perfectly preserved between the back of the sofa next to the radiator!
