something always comes up and throws a spanner in the works doesn't it? last 2 Sundays have been a washout and then some twit piles into the side of my car, so I have a brand new shiny hire car, which I am terrified of damaging, and they have written off my car, so I'll have to spend my weekend look...

hmm, that's a tricky one to solve, as the rough edges of the mesh will tear the fleece easily. maybe your sewing idea or something similar is the best way. if my lightbulb goes off, I'll let you know!

we used to have a cellar in the house I grew up in, it was always damp, and actually it was dead scary too, as my mum convinced us all that we were haunted and I suspected the wee ghostie lived in the cellar

I use mine for roasted toms too (with onion, garlic and other veg, herbs & oliive oil. it is still easy to clean, just hot soapy water. instant pasta sauce. don't forget the chilies!

piglet6, next year, I suggest covering your brassicas with very fine garden mesh, it's the only way to keep the blighters off!

fabulous piglet! that looks incredible! we picked one similar size yesterday, we leave them at the front of the plot for folk to help themselves, far too large for my saucepan!
